東日本大震災ネタが続くイングリッシュ道場だけど、しばらく勘弁ね。

先日、大宮に住むすぐ上の兄にも声をかけて、被災地大船渡に住む弟一家をお見舞いしつつ、地元の支援物資センターの仕事も手伝って来たんだよね。
その時のことを英語にしてみたというわけだ。最後はちょっと情けない終わり方なんだけど（涙）。

I know Tokyo got lots of problems after the earthquake but I feel like nothing bothers me and having comfortable life after visiting my home town Iwate．

先日の大震災以来、東京においてもたくさんの問題を抱えているのはわかってるけど、故郷岩手訪問から戻ってみると、何の問題がない、天国のように感じるよ。

I took a night bus to go back to Iwate．

岩手に帰るのに、僕は夜行バスを使ったんだ。

It took 7hours．

7時間の旅だよ。

As you know, Shinkansen is not working．

ご存知のとおり、新幹線は動いていなくてね。

So that’s the only way to go there．

行くのにそれが唯一の方法だったってわけなんだ。

Any buses are full of people．

どのバスも満席状態だった。

I am too big for g a seat．

シートに比べていかにも僕の体は大き過ぎた。

If I had one more hour in the bus, I would have been economy class syndrome．

もし、もう1時間でもよけいにバスに乗っていたとしたら、僕はエコノミー症候群になっていたと思うよ。

I lost my words when I saw the view in Rikuzentakata．

陸前高田の景色を見て、僕は言葉を失った

There’s nothing.

何も無いんだよ。

The department store I used to go was gone, everything was gone．

僕がよく行っていたデパートも何もかも無くなっていた。

It was very silent there．

そこは完全に音の無い世界だった。

My brother and I helped volunteer works．

兄と僕は、ボランティアの仕事を手伝ったんだ。

The volunteer staff are working hard without break time．

ボランティアの皆さんは、休憩時間もろくに取らずに働いていた。

I carried boxes for hours．

僕は、何時間も箱を運び続けた。

I was tired in the middle of the day but other people kept working so I didn’t stop either.

実は僕は途中でくたびれちゃったんだけど、みんなが働き続けているから、途中でやめるわけにはいかなかったんだ。

But at the end, I look around and I thought “Are we the oldest?”

しかし、最後に僕は周りを見渡して思ったんだ。「僕らが一番年寄りなのか？」。

That’s why we get tired first!!

そりゃ、僕らが最初にくたびれちゃうわけだよ。
